ATLANTA - Georgia's tax collections jumped in January, posting 10.2 percent growth from the year before, state money managers reported on Friday.
Revenues totaled $1.98 billion for January, compared to $1.79 billion for the same month the year before.
Overall, revenues are up 6.5 percent for the fiscal year.
January's growth was fueled by a 237.5 percent jump in corporate tax collections. That increase was largely due to a $29 million refund from a prior reporting period that was denied.
Individual income taxes reported strong growth, growing by 12.4 percent in January. Property taxes rose by 4.7 percent.
Sales tax revenues remained relatively flat, however, inching up by just 1.6 percent from the year before
The state's fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.
