Douglas County Tax Group Launches Tax Website
Written by Bradley Forschner
Friday, 09 February 2007

Douglas County GA - February 8, 2007: The Douglas County Taxpayers Coalition (DCTC) is pleased to announce the launch of a new informational tax website designed to give taxpayers an easy way to research tax matters and keep the public up to date on related issues. The website www.DouglasTaxes.com will serve as a clearinghouse for tax related information. It will cover local, state and federal tax matters and provide the public with a forum board to discuss tax issues.

James Bell, director of DCTC, said the idea for the informational portal came after browsing several government websites and found there was no "one source" for tax information. Bell said he found government websites lacking updated and accurate information concerning taxes.

"We found more information about Douglas County taxes on the City of Marietta's website than our own," Bell said, "DouglasTaxes.com will give taxpayers and easy way to research, understand and participate in the tax decision making process."

The news and blogs feature will give visitors the latest news on tax matters and will publish opinion articles from the public.

"Take Action" will advise concerned taxpayers how they can participate in the decision making process and give suggestion for action projects such as editorial letter writing, calling elected officials and attending public meetings.

"The Forum" will allow the public to read and post comments concerning tax matters and will not be censored. The goal is to provide an open and free forum to express opinions.

DouglasTaxes.com will provide information on impact fees, (E)-SPLOST, school bonds, property taxes, user fees, budgets, and other information related to the operation of government.

DCTC was formed in 2006 in an effort to defeat the $145 million SPLOST tax. DCTC's mission statement is on the website.

DCTC's first meeting of 2007: Thursday - February 15 - 6:30pm at Hudson's Hickory House located at Hwy 78 and Rose Avenue, Douglasville -  Dinner (optional) 6:30-7:00  Program from 7:00pm-8:30 . Special guests speakers.
