On May 28 the Douglas County Taxpayers Coalition (DCTC) will
begin coverage of the 2007 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST)
referendum plan for a September 18 vote.
Last year voters rejected a $145 million SPLOST by 53 to 47
percent. As a result, sales tax for Douglas
County will drop one percent to 6
percent, the same as Cobb County.
On May 15 the Douglas County Board of Commissioners voted to
approve a new tax proposal of $166 million for six years with 12 year bonds.
Will SPLOST raise your property taxes?
How much interest will the bonds cost taxpayers?
Do we really need to build a new $130 million prison complex?
Should government be competing with local business owners
with swimming pools and gymnasiums?
What is the County really asking for?
