Surprised at opposition - 2007/09/18 22:05 This is a neat forum. I think our county is great, but there are so many things our leaders are doing to make it even better that I am surprised at the opposition. A YMCA, a place to see a symphony concert, more parks, bike lanes, sidewalks - these are all great things that would make life easier and more pleasant. I wonder how they could be opposed?

That is not to mention we need better traffic flow, a new jail, fire protection, and schools. Those are necessary for day to day life. But, without pleasant areas to pass spare time, what good is living? I don't want our county to be a place where everyone comes home at night and closes the garage door never to be seen again. That is so dull! I want neat places to go.

It would be great to be able to do everything without leaving our county. And, by defeating fair VAT taxes like SPLOST, we have to foot the bill by ourselves using property taxes rather than get people from other counties who shop here to help pay.

If we cannot fund the simple stuff, how will we ever do something like improve public transit? It would be a great thing to be able to ride anywhere in metro Atlanta or North Georgia and let someone else worry about the idiot tailgating while talking on their cell phone. I can just sit there and surf the internet.
