ANTE UP D'VILLE - 2007/03/11 12:50 I KNOW I AM WASTING TYPE HERE,BUT IN MY OPINION THE CITY OF D'VILLE SHOULD PAY FOR AN ELEMENTARY,MIDDLE AND HIGHSCHOOL .THEY SHOULD BE BUILT ON THORNTON ROAD.THEY SNAKED THEIR WAY DOWN I-20 AND DID A LAND GRAB ON THORNTON RD. AND BLAIRS BRIDGE ROAD YEARS AGO.THEY HAVE ALLOWED APARTMENTS TO BE BUILT ALL OVER THIS AREA.THE NUMBER OF KIDS IN THESE APTS. IS OVERWHELMING THE EAST SIDE OF OUR COUNTY.ITS AMAZING,HISTORIC PRESERVATION IN DOWNTOWN D'VILLE AND APTS. AND 49.00 MOTELS IT LITHIA,UH I MEAN EAST D'VILLE.

Re:ANTE UP D'VILLE - 2007/03/12 00:35 SS, Thanks for posting. NO! your not wasting your time here. The issue of annexation is a big issue in the LS area. Douglasville is quick to talk about proerty rights when it comes to annexation into the city. They care less about it when it come to taking of property through eminent domain. They want the people of Doulas County to foot $99 million bill to move the jail so they can have Lofts and coffee shops in downtown. So much for "historic persevation".

I hope Douglasville does pass the impact fee scheme. It will make D'ville an undesirable island.

You are right, D'ville needs to support their own school system. Only then will they rethink what they are doing to our county.

But, having a nice area to go to in downtown Douglasville would benefit everyone. I like lofts and coffee shops!

The old jail is an eyesore. It is too small. I think the new location near the courthouse makes sense.

Let's have some nice stuff in our county and more places to go and have fun. Otherwise, why do we work in the first place?

Government should not get into the entertainment business. If there is money to be made there the private sector will provide what is needed. With the BOC/ city councils track record on spending on special interest projects they need to really concentrate on trying to repair our infrastructure and spending our money wisely.
